Our goal is to support your work
Your clinical lab may be seeking to improve screening techniques
Your psychology research project may require the measurement of biomarkers
You may need preliminary data for a grant proposal you are developing
Drug mechanisms studies
We are screening drugs that alter long term response to alcohol using our Drosophila
(fruit flies) model. The current focus is on opiate and GABA-B receptors. Models of wild-type and genetically modified flies offer a wide range of opportunities to test drug mechanisms at low costs, high throughput and importantly also partially replacing mammalian species in basic research.
Saliva Cortisol meaurement inUniversty students
We are carrying out a feasibility study to determine the cost and logistics of a large scale study of stress level among university students during normal study time and near exams. We are using a sensitive competitive ELISA technique to detect cortisol in saliva samples and exploring also other biomarkers of stress. We are engaging Biomedical Science students in the project both as researchers and as subjects.
